I just finished The Golden Compass (the movie)...woah, what a let down!Watched it last night. So glad I didn't see it in the theaters. When the movie ended, I yelled "WTF!?!" at the television. That wasn't how the book ended!!! All the actors were very good, although I didn't love Sir Ian as Iorek Byrnison. My fave was Sam Elliot as Lee Scoresby; that casting could NOT have been better if they tried.

Wow - I can't believe we both watched it last night!
I know - the ending of the book is sooo great with Lord Asriel SPOILERS opening the door and seeing Lyra and Roger there and then breaking down because his own daughter is at the door and he thinks that he'll have to use her to open the gate. Nicole did a great job though. I didn't even know Ian was Iorek's voice until today when I was looking up the Hobbit news and saw that he had done the voice for him! I loved the kid who played billy costa. Anyone else catch the Subtle Knife moment at the intro when it shows modern (our universe) oxford and then there's a slit in the "fabric" of the screen and we see Lyra's oxford? I loved that. Indie

OOoo I hope we do! The other books are a lot better than the first one, and honestly, I didn't think the first movie was that bad!!

"Made of Honor" - Predictable. Cute, but you knew what was happening before it happened. I liked it tho.

i think they said they were waiting to see how compass did in theaters, and based on it's success would make sequels. for some reason i can't picture
daniel craig or nicole kidman commiting to it again.
 i could be wrong though.

I noticed the cut, but I didn't connect it to the Subtle Knife. DOH! And I call myself a fan.
I don't think that they will make the sequel either. The cost of the film was too much in comparison to the domestic profit; I think I read somewhere though that it did much better financially over seas.

that sucks - especially since the other two were SO AMAZING.
TGC doesn't even get into "the world" that Pullman created. ION - I just watched OUT OF AFRICA for the first time in a few years...so good. I love Robert Redford and Meryl Streep. "I had a farm in Africa..." It's haunting me, that line. Indie

Anyway, I just finished watching 27 dresses...it was really sweet. Tomorrow night I'll be watching "No Country For Old Men" I'm UBER excited for it. Anyone else seen these two? Indie

Hardly! I usually kill threads.
We saw Iron Man tonight. It was pretty good. Started out slow and got much, MUCH better. The scene after the credits was probably better than the whole movie itself. No, I have not seen 27 or Old Men. Would like to see 27, but my boyfriend told me I wouldn't enjoy Old Men. Bad ending I guess.

today i watched "bowling for columbine" for the first time. very eye opening! i'm now wanting to check out the rest of michael moore's films.
i can't say i have a desire to see "27" but "no country" looks good!
