Bloom speaks to Hong Kong filmmaker To

14th December 2007, 17:13 WST

Lord of the Rings star Orlando Bloom has been discussing a possible collaboration with Hong Kong director Johnnie To, who is famous for his gangster thrillers.

To's assistant, Ding Yuin-shan, said the British actor arrived in Hong Kong on Tuesday and left Thursday.

Bloom met with To several times during his stay and the two discussed shooting a movie together, Ding said, declining to identify any specific projects.

"They hope they can work on a project together," Ding said.

Hong Kong newspaper Apple Daily ran a photo of the two together, which the newspaper said was taken when To accompanied Bloom back to his hotel.

Publicists for Bloom didn't immediately respond to an email from The Associated Press seeking comment.

To is known for his stylish gangster thrillers. His credits include Election, Election 2, Exiled and Mad Detective, which was shortlisted for the top Golden Lion Prize at the Venice Film Festival earlier this year.

Bloom's credits include the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy.
