Hey you all, I just started reading Ruby in the Smoke by Phillip Pullman, who wrote His Dark Materials.
It is a mystery story set in Victorian London and the main character is the very likeable Sally Lockhart, who after her father's death, becomes entangled in a mystery! I love it.  |

hmmm...i will have to check that one out mellie.
i started reading "eat,pray, love"... it's interesting so far. a woman realizing her need for spiritual influence and examining what true happiness means for her in life- completely relatable for me right now. |

I was thinking about that book, Mellie. I actually saw it at the library today and seriously considered it. Let me know how it is, please.

I am halfway through and really like it. There are four books in the series.
To be fair, I saw the tv adaptation starring Billie Piper (from Doctor Who) and really liked that too. Julie Walters bka Mrs. Weasley plays the evil Mrs. Holland. |

I LOVED One Hundred Years of Solitude.
Don't be put off if you can't get into it right away, or you start confusing the characters because they are all named Jose Arcadio or Aureliano. I put the book down at first because of that, but the second time I picked it up, I forced myself to just go with the flow and found it a wonderful and engaging story. |

I am still trying to get through the Narnia series. Book #5, The Dawn Treader, is really boring.

The BBC movie of the Dawn Treader isn't too bad. It is quite interesting actually and funny. I have to admit that I gave up on the book though... I think I
almost got to the end and then just couldn't bear it anymore. Hang in there Kat! I know you can get it done!

"The Last Battle" the end.

Now see, I read Voyage of the Dawn Treader as the third book in the series. How I hate that they reordered them!!! I read them in this order:
Lion, Witch, Wardrobe Caspian Dawn Treader Silver Chair Horse and his Boy Magician's Nephew Last Battle Did anyone else read them in the old order?? |

I think I actually read MN first but then I followed with LWW, HahB, C, DT, SC, and LB....or whatever way the boxed set had arranged them in.
However I read them - it made sense to me. Indie

Magicians Nephew The Horse and His boy Lion the Witch and the wardrobe Prince Caspian Voyage of the Dawn Tredder Silver Chair The Last Battle.... I think that was it. It made sense to me. Eustace was annoying at first but I think you get used to him Has anyone read the book "the other boleyn girl" was it any good? |
